Legacy of Generosity

Our community takes great pride in the vision and generosity of our famous forefathers. Spartanburg is home to the oldest community foundation in South Carolina, which manages nearly 1000 charitable funds to sustain positive change for Spartanburg County. Such a legacy of generosity has supported the celebrated history and rich traditions of the Country Club of Spartanburg for over a century and undergirds our growth momentum today.

In 1934, our Club’s first swimming pool was donor-funded, as was our renovated pool complex and remodeled casual/outdoor dining in 2020. This latest capital project was fully funded — $1.3M by voluntary donations from 74 members.

Additionally, we have raised $4.9M for the Be One project, with $1.9M for debt retirement, $1.5M for grading-in-kind, and $1M in other anonymous member gifts specifically in support of this phase 1.  Furthermore, the immediate retirement of the Club’s debt will result in a saving of approximately $500K in P&I payments during the first two (2) years.

Listed below are a few of the projects made possible by generous members to enhance the legacy and sustainability of our club.
